Mom thought her “party dot” excuse would work after tattooing her baby’s arm, but a “deplorable” discovery at her home led to child abuse charges

Must have been really painful for the little one.

Child abuse cases, similar to a Kentucky woman who failed to protect her late sister’s three kids, are making headlines often. This time, a woman has been accused of abuse, who allegedly had her 22-month-old get a tattoo.

According to People, 27-year-old Brook McDaniel was arrested by the authorities after Kentucky police received several calls. When police reached the Monticello, Ky. home, located near the Tennessee state line, they found McDaniel and her 22-month-old son. The mother claimed that her son was accidentally tattooed, alleging that she was tattooing her own leg when the child suddenly stuck his arm between the tattoo gun and her leg, causing the mark on his forearm. She was arrested immediately after making those claims, as per LEX 18 and WNKY.

Brook stated that she “[had] been tattooing her leg, and the child walked up to her and stuck his arm in the way of her tattoo gun,” Authorities outlined in the report that her son had a “black dot tattoo on his right forearm with redness around the area,” And when asked more about it, she said, “he wanted the tattoo.”

Police Troopers also reported the case to the Kentucky Health and Family Care Department for the “deplorable” house condition

Even though Brook McDaniel has been claiming that the child was the one asking for a tattoo, that didn’t sit well with the authorities. In reality, the conditions for living where she kept the baby were quite questionable, and all of it hinted at the possibility that she may have put her child through a lot. The police reported the incident to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) after observing “deplorable” conditions in the home.

Unfortunately, this is not the only incident reported in recent days. A while ago, two moms, a couple, were deemed guilty of carrying out abuse on the children they had adopted. Becky Hamber and Brandy Cooney were found guilty of inflicting harsh punishments and keeping children locked in the basement for 18 hours a day. One of the two children eventually died of malnutrition, inside the basement.

Coming back to the tattoo incident, the 22-month-old has been taken into the child care while the woman has been charged. Her charges include fourth-degree assault (child abuse). Per WKYT, on May 4, authorities booked her at the Adair County Detention Center, where she’s now held pending a $5,000 cash bond. It is yet to be seen whether she will plead guilty, but the investigations are ongoing.
