Naughty Dog Sad About Finishing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

by Damian Seeto

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is being advertised as the last of the series and a lot of staff members from Naughty Dog are sad to see the franchise coming to an end.

Lead designer, Ricky Cambier, was interviewed by MCV and he described how other staff members from Naughty Dog felt knowing that this is the final game of the franchise.

He said: “But for other people that have been with him since the inception, there is a lot of sadness. There is a lot of being with him for ten years. Bruce Staley, the game director who started as an art director on Uncharted 1, was working on this last sequence and we were basically sketching in what was effectively Nathan Drake’s final big jump. And he was getting a little emotional because that is such an iconic Nathan Drake moment, and here was his last one.

Cambier himself is not too sad as he only came on board since Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. For him, it’s more of a celebration of the series. However, others got emotional working on the final moments of Nathan Drake’s last adventure.

There is a lot of speculation that the end of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be an emotional one. Even if another studio works on another Uncharted game, it’s likely that the character of Nathan Drake won’t be returning.
