Nintendo Mobile Games Like Pokemon Go Could Do Big Business

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

The CEO of DeNA West expects Nintendo will be making a lot of money through its mobile game such as Pokemon Go and more.

AListDaily had a chance to interview Shintaro Asako who is the CEO of DeNA West. DeNA is the company that partnered with Nintendo to make mobile games in the first place.

Asako feels that for Nintendo to enter the mobile gaming industry will be huge. He says millions of gamers already buy handheld Nintendo consoles and they spend an average “about $100 per year on software“.

With that statistic in mind, Asako feels Nintendo has the potential to earn even more money as mobile gaming attracts an even bigger market. He estimates that around 150 to 200 million people could be trying out Nintendo games on mobile devices.

He says if the minimum that users pay is $3 per month, they potentially could earn about $60 million per month in total. This is just based on Asako’s own estimates, although you cannot deny that Nintendo could be bringing in lots of revenue from it.

The recently announced Pokemon Go has already got a lot of people excited. In just a few days, the announce trailer has already notched up over 11 million views on YouTube.
