No More Heroes creator Suda51 has been talking about his recently announced project, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, and how it fits in the general series. While the developer has some trouble finding the right term to define the new game, he is sure not to call it a straight sequel, explaining instead that No More Heroes 3 could come as long as Travis Strikes Again is successful.
Suda51 said this during an interview to Video Game Choo Choo, in which he talked about the path its taken to return to the series after finding success with Let It Die, and the concept behind his latest project. The developer explains the difference between Travis Strikes Again and the main series saying “No More Heroes is about one assassin against other assassins, and this isn’t like that.” Despite that, he recognizes that the new game does address some of the events of the first two games, although he sees it as a stepping stone for the next main entry: “like the beginning of a new battle for Travis, a new series within the series.”
So, does this confirm that No More Heroes 3 is in his plans? Apparently yes: “If this succeeds I definitely want to put out a 3 someday.” So fans of the series know what to do when Travis Strikes Again launches in 2018 for Nintendo Switch.
