One thing that made the Wii U fail was the lack of third party support. Well, there’s some good news about the Nintendo Switch as it could be easy for developers.
As reported by Nintendo Everything, gaming analyst Michael Pachter has heard some feedback from developers of the Nintendo Switch.
He said that the developers told him that the Switch console is the easiest to develop for compared to the PS4 and Xbox One. The fact that development is easy for developers could mean that more support is in store for the console.
One of the things that made the Wii U unpopular with developers is that they weren’t able to make innovative uses with the gamepad. Not to mention sales for the console were low and many third party developers decided to now release games of the system anymore. If you look at the Wii U library, you’ll see that EA Sports and 2K Sports stopped releasing their annual sports games for the system many years ago.
However, things seem to be looking up for the Switch console. A lot of third party developers are already making games for the system and reportedly many ports are on the way. We saw Skyrim in the teaser trailer and there’s interest to port over Dark Souls 3 too.
The event in January 12 will tell us all about the specs of the console. One thing that is making some people nervous is if it will be powerful enough to meet the standards of today.
Hopefully the Nintendo Switch can get a lot of third party support as consoles need more than just first party games to survive. Lots of casual gamers love to get sports titles and Call of Duty every year. The Wii U suffered without big franchises being released for it constantly.
