When it was revealed last year that there wouldn’t be a PlayStation Experience 2018 and that PlayStation wouldn’t appear at all at E3 2019, fans didn’t quite know what to think. Sony implied that they plan to hold their own events to announce new titles and info on existing titles, but we haven’t really known exactly what that meant until now.
On the official PlayStation blog, it was recently revealed that Sony plans on starting a new video segment called State of Play, which sounds like it will be the PlayStation version of other info dump video segments by other video game companies, like Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct and Microsoft’s Inside Xbox. The blog post promises “new trailers, new game announcements and new gameplay footage” for upcoming PS4 and PS VR games.
The first episode of State of Play will premiere next week on March 25 at 2:00pm PST/5:00pm EST. The video will stream live at this time before being uploaded as a standard video so that those who can’t watch it live can watch it at their leisure. How often new State of Play videos will be streamed after the first one isn’t clear, but the blog post does promise more streams throughout the year to continue giving news on upcoming PlayStation games.
