Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon Tops Japanese Sales; Star Wars Battlefront 2 Bombs

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon expectedly top this week’s Japanese sales, according to Media Create. The games debut with combined sales of more than 900,000 units, an impressive number as usual in the series, although the high amount of limited editions sold seem to point to a bigger drop than usual in the second week. The other supposed big release of the week is Star Wars Battlefront 2, but the Japanese public seems to have turned their backs on the EA title following the recent scandals, with the game only selling 38,769 units, far from the 123,908 copies sold by the first entry in its debut. The game also had a disappointing launch in the United Kingdom.

The new expansion of Dragon Quest XI debuts on Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and PS4. It’s especially surprising that Nintendo’s former home console received most of the sales, which seems to indicate that a considerable part of the fanbase has still not transitioned to the Switch.

On the hardware chart, Nintendo Switch continues to pull impressive numbers, and the upcoming bigger shipments suggest that the console will be able to move even more copies in the weeks leading to Christmas. Pokemon give 3DS a boost of sales, doubling numbers from the week before. PS4 remains stable, while the Xbox One X fails to make an impression following its disappointing debut.
