THQ Nordic could be on the verge of bringing back Red Faction for the current generation, and although we are not talking about a brand new entry in development, many fans will be glad to know about this. Some European GameStop stores from various countries including Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, have listed an upcoming version of Red Faction: Guerrilla for PS4 and Xbox One. They even include official notes from the publisher, really making the case that this is an actual release that has just been unveiled earlier than expected, as it has happened before with other THQ Nordic projects.

Red Faction: Guerrilla is often seen as the last truly great game in the series, before the lackluster Red Faction: Armageddon and its poor sales made THQ give up on the franchise. Guerrilla stood out for transitioning to a third person perspective and include a wide variety of online multiplayer modes.

Here’s an official overview of the game: “Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla re-defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.”

We don’t have a release date for the game, but considering that the company has already reach out to retailers, an official announcement is expected soon. If you are feeling nostalgic and want to relieve some memories with the franchise, remember that Red Faction: Armaggeddom is now backwards compatible on Xbox One, and that you have Red Faction 1 and 2 available on PS4 as PS2 Classics.
