Calling all zombie and apocalyptic fans! Kadokawa has recently posted a second trailer of Resident Evil: Vendetta (Biohazard: Vendetta in Japan) a CG-based film following Capcom‘s successful game franchise as well as previous animated films Degeneration (2008) and Damnation (2012).  This time, set in the bustling streets of New York City, lead characters Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are back, accompanied by an all grown-up Rebecca Chambers (Resident Evil Zero) to save the world from an impending virus infection.

As much action-packed the film is, the creators are not to be ignored as well.  The film is directed by Takanori Tsujimoto and written by Makoto Fukami who also wrote Psycho-Pass and the recent Berserk series.  While Takashi Shimizu will stand as executive producer, responsible for the horror elements as seen in The Grudge.

The trailer begins with a zombie emerging from the shadows of a dark room gnashing his bloody fangs.  The antagonist, Glen Arias, is revealed sporting a smirk on his face, a typical trademark for a villain.  Zombies and giant monsters alike, have taken over The Big Apple as Chris and Leon are armed and ready to defend humanity at all costs.  The CG animation is indeed mind blowing with nonstop action.  There are scenes where Leon is being chased by mad dogs on a highway on his motorbike, or somersaulting on top of a building in order to target the foe.

Though it is unlikely the original cast will appear in Resident Evil 7, fans will be in for a special treat when Resident Evil: Vendetta hits theaters in North America on January 27, 2017 and May 27, 2017 respectively in Japan.

This will be the third movie based on the highly acclaimed Resident Evil game franchise which took the spotlight back in 1996. Not only that, a Hollywood sequel Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is also scheduled to release next year in North America starring Milla Jovovich.
