Today Microsoft announced another feature of the Xbox One X. Apparently a number of Xbox 360 games will see improvements on the console. Microsoft says that the Xbox One X Enhanced Xbox 360 titles will include popular titles like Halo 3 and Fallout 3.
The announcement says that these select titles will run at higher resolutions, 9X the original pixel count as well as expanded color details. The engineering team at Microsoft has developed a method that takes advantage of the power of the Xbox One X to allow the Xbox 360 emulator that powers Backwards Compatibility the ability to push the very best possible visual experience on these older titles without touching or replacing the existing assets for the game. This same method is used to improve visuals for the Xbox One and Xbox One S.
Right now there are only a handful of Xbox 360 titles that will take advantage of this. These include Assassin’s Creed, Fallout 3, Halo 3, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Microsoft did not say whether more titles would be added to this list going forward, but with Original Xbox titles, Enhanced Xbox 360 games, Enhanced Xbox One games, and games developed specifically with the Xbox One X’s power in mind will make for an extensive library of games to play at launch.
The Xbox One X is set to release on November 7th and will launch as the most powerful console on the market in terms of pure specs.
