Spider-Man: Homecoming opens this week in North America, and Sony is celebrating it with the release of a virtual reality experience for free in all advanced platforms, that is, PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. As it’s the case with this kind of releases, the experience offers a short amount of gameplay, consisting in some minigames that make players learn how to throw spider webs to defeat enemies, and swing through the city.
Following the plot of the new film, the Spider-Man suit that players will try on is a new version made by the Stark Corporation, which offers multiple tricks and technical advances, as well as a virtual AI that will guide players in their adventure.
This is how the game is described on its Steam page: “For the first time, you can suit up as Spider-Man and see what it’s like to be the world’s favorite superhero. Learn the ins and outs of your brand new Stark Industries upgraded web shooters and master different web types as you race to complete fast-paced targeting trials – but you’ll have to learn quickly… The Vulture is on the loose and coming for you. Sling high above the city in a dramatic confrontation before pursuing Spidey’s deadliest enemy.”
Despite the limited amount of content, this is still a nice offering for a product that is completely free, and will keep fans entertained while they wait for the arrival of the upcoming Spider-Man videogame for PS4. You can watch a video introduction below, presented with Homecoming’s main actor, Tom Holland, explaining the special features of the suit.
Spider-Man: Homecoming VR Experience is out now for PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.
