EA and DICE are getting ready to release another batch of content for Star Wars Battlefront 2.  Information will start to arrive on the new season next week, according to Ben Walke.  The Community Engagement Manager at EA revealed that Season Two for Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be called “The Han Solo Season” and that details regarding the new content will be arriving shortly.

The good news for Star Wars Battlefront 2 owners is that the new content in Season Two is going to be free.  EA has been fighting an uphill battle with Battlefront 2 since launch.  After the game came under fire just days ahead of release due to microtransactions.  The company pulled the plug on the progression systems that the game was built around at the very last moment before release after many made “pay to win” claims against the multiplayer component of the game.

It took them months to start getting it right, but the last updates to the game fixed the progression systems.  They introduced cosmetic items for players to unlock, and then released the Night on Endor content that not all players were enthusiastic about.

In the past six months since release, there’s been very little new content for players to dig into in the shooter.  EA shot themselves in the foot, needing to reshape the entire progression system for Battlefront 2, which likely put them way off track in terms of delivering new things to those who purchased the game in late-2017.  Updates do appear to be getting more regular though, and it’s pretty clear that they needed to get the game in decent shape prior to the release of the upcoming “Solo: A Star Wars Story” movie.

Whether or not it’s going to be meaningful content is another question entirely.  EA has yet to really prove to fans that there is a compelling reason to return to Star Wars Battlefront 2.  With May the 4th and a Star Wars movie on the horizon they’ll have ample opportunity to do so with this new Season of content as Star Wars hype will be high.
