Rian Johnson shared an exciting new update that shooting for Star Wars: Episode 8 is already halfway done. Not to mention he also posted two new set photos giving us a small preview on what’s to come in December 2017.

Johnson shared on Tumblr: “Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the microfiber sham.” I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!). Granted, there’s still a lot that needs to be done before they are “finished”. A movie like this has a lot of post production so the visual effects will take a lot of time to be completed.

The set photos that he shared for Star Wars: Episode 8 look pretty cool. Pictured above we see a First Order trooper sitting at a work station. The other photo takes a look at a pilot sitting inside of an X-Wing. One has to wonder how The First Order will retaliate after Starkiller base got destroyed in The Force Awakens.

In related news, Daisy Ridley posted up a new video of her training with a staff. This is a sign that her character Rey will be wielding a lightsaber more efficiently in the new movie. Her lightsaber skills were limited in the previous film because the character of Rey wasn’t properly trained back then.

Star Wars: Episode 8 releases on December 15th, 2017. Most of the people from The Force Awakens are reprising their roles with a few new actors added in unspecified roles. The movie will focus on the Jedi training of Rey and more.
