Nintendo has announced New Super Mario Bros 2 for the 3DS, and its due to arrive in Japan this summer.  On its latest Nintendo Direct stream, the company announced the title, than further confirmed its existence via the company Twitter feed with an update for the North American version of the game.

It looks like New Super Mario Bros will be getting a simultaneous North American and Japanese release, with both versions of the title arriving in August of 2012.

The company did not specify a release date for a European version of the title, but the European version of the Nintendo Direct show is scheduled for later today.  It’ll probably confirm that New Super Mario Bros 2 will arrive for all territories in August of 2012.
