Tetris is coming to Xbox One and PS4. Ubisoft is working with The Tetris Company to develop the franchise for the new consoles. Launched originally in 1984, Tetris is getting ready to celebrate its 30th birthday.
According to the release from Ubisoft, they will be handling the development of the game, and aren’t just in a publisher role for the new game. CEO of the company, Yves Guillemot had this to say,
“We’re very excited to start working with this world-renowned brand, and can’t wait to combine Ubisoft’s expertise and all the capacities of next-gen consoles to create an exciting new Tetris experience for fans.”
The announcement did not come along with any gameplay, screenshots, nor did it say anything about possible new features for the iconic franchise or a release date. We’ll have to wait and see what Ubisoft’s take on Tetris is when the release details about the game.
