The Nintendo NX console might be getting more third party support as publishers are optimistic about it. Ubisoft say they have “other surprises” in store.
Game Industry had a chance to speak with Ubisoft’s Alain Corre and he says the company is excited over the Nintendo NX. They will be bringing more games than just the previously announced Just Dance.
Corre said: “We announced that we’re developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later, but we also believe Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing,” Corre tells me. “Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families… I am still impressed by the reoccurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system“.
The Wii U initially had third-party support early in its life, but sadly publishers started to drop the system entirely as the years went on. In order for the NX to be successful, Nintendo needs support from third-party publishers like Ubisoft in order to keep it alive and popular.
The Nintendo NX console won’t be out until March 2017. Nintendo have yet to reveal any official details about it, but hopefully the first news of it drops later this year.
