Hillary Clinton, the former first lady and secretary of state, walked out of a private deposition last week after she found out that Representative Lauren Boebert had leaked a photo of her testifying about Jeffrey Epstein. Clinton had been giving closed-door testimony as part of ongoing legal scrutiny connected to Epstein’s associates and activities. The session was intended to remain confidential, with strict limits on recording devices and image distribution.
The incident happened during Clinton’s testimony in front of the House Oversight Committee on Thursday. The proceedings had to be paused after someone found that a photo taken inside the hearing room had been posted on social media, which was a clear violation of the rules set at the start of the meeting.
According to Mediaite, Clinton adviser Nick Merrill told reporters that the hearing went off the record after the photo was shared online. He said the hearing was paused briefly while they worked out where the photo came from and why members of Congress may have broken that rule.
The leaked photo from inside the hearing room turned a tense deposition into an open confrontation
The full video of Clinton’s deposition was released on Monday, March 2, 2026, showing exactly when things fell apart. Clinton had earlier denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and urged Congress to question Trump instead.
A member of Clinton’s team interrupted the proceedings, saying, “Excuse me, can I interrupt? There are photos that are being released of the secretary as she is testifying from inside this room. Can you please advise me as to whether or not that’s permissible and consistent with the rules?”
Clinton then erupted. “I am done with this. If you guys are doing that, I am done! You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behavior!” she said. One committee member then admitted, “I did post one.”
That admission came from Representative Boebert. Clinton responded by shouting, “Oh for heaven’s sakes!” The deposition had already seen unusual questioning from Republicans about UFOs and internet conspiracy theories before the photo incident unfolded.
Boebert tried to argue that the photo was taken before the hearing started, but Clinton pushed back. “It doesn’t matter! We all are abiding by the same rules!” she said. Boebert then said she would take the photo down. Clinton replied with a flat, “Yeah, well.” When a member of her team suggested taking a break, Clinton agreed, saying, “Yeah, I’m done for now!” and left the room.
