Texas gunman wore “Property of Allah” hoodie during deadly Austin bar attack, and what police found at his home deepens the mystery

New details have emerged about the gunman in the deadly Austin bar attack, including what he was wearing and what investigators found inside his home. As reported by CBS News, authorities say the suspect wore a sweatshirt reading “Property of Allah” and kept photos of Iranian leaders at his residence.

Austin police identified the shooter as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, a naturalized American citizen born in Senegal. Officers fatally shot him during the March 1, 2026 attack after he opened fire in the city’s entertainment district.

The shooting left two people dead and 14 others wounded. Officials executed a search warrant at Diagne’s home on Sunday, where they found an Iranian flag and pictures of Iranian leaders, and a Quran was recovered from his vehicle.

Investigators examine possible extremist links

During the attack, Diagne was wearing a hoodie that said “Property of Allah,” consistent with a photo circulating that appears to show him carrying a long gun. FBI Acting Special Agent Alex Doran said indicators tied to the suspect and his vehicle suggest a “potential nexus to terrorism,” while cautioning it was too early to determine a motive.

Investigators believe Diagne acted alone and used both a handgun and a rifle. US forces around Iran were already positioned in the region as authorities examine whether he was influenced by extremist ideology or had any international connections.

The attack occurred a day after the United States and Israel launched a major military operation against Iran that reportedly resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Diagne arrived in the United States in 2000 on a tourist visa, obtained a green card in 2006, and became a naturalized citizen in 2013.

The National Counterterrorism Center is working with the FBI and Austin police to review potential foreign terrorism ties. Authorities also confirmed Diagne had experienced prior mental health episodes in Austin.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said officers received a call shortly after 1:30 AM about a man shooting at a beer garden. The suspect allegedly drove through the area in an SUV, firing from an open window before exiting the vehicle and continuing to shoot on foot.

Responding officers fatally shot him, and multiple weapons were recovered from the SUV. Austin-Travis County EMS Chief Robert Luckritz said 14 people were hospitalized, including three in critical condition, and praised the rapid response by officers and paramedics.

President Trump was briefed on the shooting, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Congress scrutiny of strikes has continued as federal officials face broader questions tied to the escalating conflict with Iran.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated service members under Operation Fury Shield and directed state agencies to increase patrols in downtown Austin’s 6th Street District. The Joint Terrorism Task Force is leading the investigation as authorities continue reviewing evidence and background information.
