A dedicated Cheesecake Factory fan, Jules Black, recently had her unwavering loyalty put to the ultimate test after experiencing two back-to-back incidents involving hair in her food, as reported by BroBible. It’s a situation that would make anyone cringe, and honestly, it’s pretty wild to hear about, especially from a place you love.
Jules, a content creator known as @juleskadenblack on TikTok, kicked off her viral video with a bold statement: “There’s no one on this planet that loves Cheesecake Factory more than me.” So, when her husband, Chris, chose the popular spot in Nashville for his birthday lunch, she was absolutely thrilled. The plan was to share a cheerful recap of their meal, featuring delicious bread, Asian chicken nachos, steak Diane, and chicken Bellagio. However, things took an unexpected turn when their much-anticipated dessert arrived.
Just as Jules was about to dig into her cheesecake, Chris stopped her. He spotted something she hadn’t: a piece of hair resting on the dessert. “No big deal,” Jules recalled, as they are usually pretty chill. The server quickly brought them a fresh slice, but incredibly, it also had a piece of hair on it! “Listen, we’re super chill and understanding,” Jules explained in her video. “But happening once? That’s fine. Twice? That’s crazy.”
Jules even dubbed the unfortunate event a “#cakegate saga” in her caption
So, what are you actually supposed to do if this happens to you? According to advice from culinary publications, the first step is to avoid freaking out. Before you automatically assume it came from the kitchen, take a moment to examine it. Is it just sitting on top of the food, or is it cooked into it? If it’s merely resting on the surface, there’s a chance it could have drifted in from your own head or your dining companion’s. If it’s covered in sauce or baked into the dish, then that’s definitely a kitchen problem.
The best course of action is to calmly and privately inform your server. Most restaurants will apologize, remake your dish quickly, and might even comp the item. After that, it’s usually best to accept the apology and move on. If you decide to leave a review, it’s a good idea to mention how the restaurant handled the situation, not just that it happened.
Interestingly, the comment section of Jules’s TikTok video had a bit of a different take. Many viewers felt she was overreacting. One top comment read, “THAT build up for a hair….I can’t.” Another person commented, “lol. me picking it off and eating it anyway…..” Someone else even added, “The way you were talking, I thought you saw a roach or a rat. A hair TWICE would have me upset but not enough to give up on the Cheesecake Factory all together.”
It seems like while many agree it’s gross, some people are a lot more forgiving than others when it comes to a few stray strands, more so at a time when shrinkflation is a bigger problem.
