‘I’m appalled’: North Carolina man’s Cheesecake Factory order sparks shrinkflation debate after he opens the container

They are shrinking faster than icebergs.

People who love the Cheesecake Factory are upset about what they say is a big problem. Many customers think the restaurant’s cheesecake slices are getting smaller, and they are not happy about it.

According to Bro Bible, a man called King Meel made a video that more than 910,000 people watched. He ordered a red velvet cheesecake slice from the Cheesecake Factory. He said people told him the slices were getting smaller, but he wanted to see it for himself.

When he opened his food, he was really upset. “I’m appalled. I’m flabbergasted,” he said in his TikTok video. The restaurant changed the container from a strong black one to a clear plastic box. The cheesecake looked way smaller too. He looked at the $13 slice and said it was missing size. He thought the restaurant made the cheesecake smaller on purpose.

Other people noticed the same thing

King Meel was not the only person who saw this happen. Another person named Toya made a video that over 139,000 people saw. She showed her triple berry cheesecake slice, and it looked really thin. She said after eating just a little bit, half of it was already gone.

Toya thinks the restaurant decided to give people less food. She said when she buys cheesecake, she wants a big piece. She does not care about calories when she orders dessert. Even though she was mad, she said she would still go back and order it again.

Other customers talked about this on social media too. One person said, “$13 should get you the whole thing.” Someone else wrote, “Shrinkflation is real.” Another customer said they told their waitress, “I know you lying” when the slice came to their table.

Workers from the restaurant gave different reasons for why this might be happening. Some said the machines that cut the cake might not be working right. Others said the company tells them to cut smaller pieces.

One person who used to work there said, “I worked in the bakery of the Cheesecake Factory a few months ago and they told us the slices were going to get smaller and that guests would probably say something, and to just deny it.”

The Cheesecake Factory has not said anything about these complaints yet. This problem is part of something called shrinkflation. That means companies make food smaller but keep the same price or make it cost more. Many restaurants and stores around the country are doing this now, including other grocery store items that have sparked customer controversy.

At the same time, some customers have been finding creative ways to save money at fast food chains because everything costs more money these days.
