Wesley Huber has resigned from his position at Aubrey High School following his arrest on serious criminal charges involving a student. The 21-year-old was serving as an assistant football coach, powerlifting coach, and educational aide at the North Texas school until his departure this week.
As reported by CBS News, authorities moved quickly after receiving a report. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services alerted the Aubrey Police Department regarding a potential relationship between a staff member and a student. Aubrey Police Chief Richard Brooks noted that the investigation relied on forensic evidence to identify the former coach. This evidence led to a search warrant and the subsequent arrest of Huber.
Huber is currently facing charges of sexual assault of a child, possession of child sexual abuse material, and an improper relationship between an educator and a student. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Denton County Jail.

Records indicate he was later released after posting a $30,000 bond. It is important to remember that these charges are allegations, and Huber has not been convicted of any crime. As of now, court records do not identify an attorney representing him.
The administration at Aubrey Independent School District acted immediately once the allegations surfaced. Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor addressed the situation in a letter sent to parents on Monday. “Immediately upon learning about the allegations, the District placed the employee on leave, and the employee submitted a resignation,” Saylor stated.
She further emphasized the district’s stance on the matter, noting, “Aubrey ISD takes these matters very seriously and will continue to evaluate and monitor the situation. We will continue to provide pertinent information as we are legally allowed. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work through this matter. Our commitment to the safety and education of our students remains our highest priority.”
Huber is a familiar face in the local community. He reportedly graduated from Aubrey High School just three years ago, where he was recognized as an all-state athlete who played both running back and linebacker for the Chaparrals. He had been working for the school district since 2024 while also attending Tarleton State University.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the district has stated it will continue to cooperate with law enforcement throughout the process. Officials from both the police department and the school district have not disclosed whether they are looking into potential additional victims or similar allegations involving other students.
