Battlefield 3 Origin

Battlefield 3 on PC will require Origin

Recommended Videos

PC users regardless of where they purchase Battlefield 3 will be required to use Origin to play the game.  Confirmed earlier by Daniel Matros, it looks like EA is taking a page out of Valve’s book when it comes to digital distribution.  EA who has recently revamped the Origin distribution channel will likely see alot of traffic this fall from PC players looking to play their recent purchases.

The completely redesigned network has many of the same types of features that Steam has, with a friends list and other similarities to Valves Steam distribution network.  One thing it doesn’t have is the popularity of Valve’s service, but that should change once players see the integration between Origin, Battlelog, and Battlefield 3 this fall.
