Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller won by default this generation due to widespread adoption on the PC, but it looks like Sony is going to give gamers an option in the coming generation. The DualShock 4 is said to work out of the box on PC, according to Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida.
In response to fan questioning via Twitter, “the analog sticks and buttons will work just fine,” said Yoshida. And while he didn’t address it directly, you can assume that some of the more advanced functionality on the DS4 won’t transition over as easily. Things like the touchpad and gyroscope probably won’t be working as easily.
Yoshida urges for those who are interested in using the DualShock 4 on PC to “wait for a field report,” but it appears that many will be able to use the control of preference on PC without the need for programs or hacks to make it happen.
