Modern Warfare 3 "Drop Zone" Released

Modern Warfare 3 players get a playlist update today for the shooter.  Hinted at over the past couple of days, the playlist update includes new gamemodes that features a brand new gametype called “Drop Zone”.  In Drop Zone players will fight for control points that trigger a care package drop-off for every 15 seconds that the players remain in the zone.  Drop Zone is accessible in the Private Match portion of the multiplayer for Modern Warfare 3.  Drop Zone is the first in the Community Playlist section that should see more activity here in the future.

Another new addition that you’ll find in Modern Warfare 3 this morning is the inclusion of Hardcore Headquarters “Ricochet”.  In Ricochet mode, if you shoot a friendly your bullets ricochet back to you.  Take that Team Killers!

A title update was also pushed to the game this morning that addresses “Lag Compensation” and “Host Disadvantage”, according to Robert Bowling.

Update:  The Ricochet Modes are attached to all “Hardcore” gamemodes in the update.  This means Hardcore Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Search & Destroy, Domination, and Team Tactical all have Ricochet attached to them.  A new blade has been added for “Community Playlists”, where Drop Zone can be accessed.
