Modern Warfare 3 tops all games in 2011, go figure

According to recently released NPD data, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has topped all games in 2011 as the best selling title of the year. The Activision shooter once again reigned supreme in 2011, with Modern Warfare 3 selling the most, and the 2010 release, Call of Duty Black Ops claiming the sixth spot.

Shooting and Dancing are apparently very popular in North America. Though there were plenty of games that probably didn't get as many sales as they deserved. Valve's Portal 2 didn't crack NPD's list, but then again, they likely didn't account for the gad zillion (non official tally) that the company sold on Steam.

Because ever pre-teen and pre-adult begged and cried to their mommy or daddy for it and treated to jump off the Foxcom building if they did not get a copy.
Only us with a IQ high enough knew it was just MW 2.5 and saved our selves the waste of 60 buck and bought BF3 instead so that this way we don’t have to deal with those adolescent kids that only know how to spawn camp.

  Waste of $60? My good friend that is a COD whore bought MW3 and Elite – $120 just to play Skyrim all day and basically denounce COD! He literally said all he needs is Skyrim and Gran Turismo that’s it. LOL, pretty sad, I told him all along but he just wouldn’t listen to me.

This just shows not only how stupid gamers are becoming, but games in general. If Call of Duty has been the top seller for the past three years and will continue to do so, what will become the fate of gaming in the future? I’ll admit, I was excited for MW3, because I would finally get the opportunity to finish the story that started in ’07 with Call of Duty 4. Yes, there were certain “innovations” if that’s what you want to call them, this year such as the PlayStation Move & Xbox Kinect, however, the latter was just filled with numbers on how many bought it. With the Move, you actually have good games across the board, such as Killzone. Whereas Kinect, most of the games involve “kicking balls around” and waving your hand on the Xbox Dashboard. I will say, however, that 2012 may redeem the industry, with BioShock Infinite, Halo 4, The Last of Us, Mass Effect 3, FarCry 3, Hitman and a few other return franchises (but god-forbid that Ubisoft should delay Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for a 5th time or more). including Grand Theft Auto V [Fuck Michael Pachter, GTA has not lost to CoD, not by a long shot]. CoD, unfortunately, really is too big to fail. However, it needs to “move over” and give other franchises room to breathe whether it’s Battlefield or BioShock.

I hate the damn campers in mw3, It’s like there’s at least one camping n the same corner, the person dies n camps in another area really nearby to the original spot n when I tell them off, most of the time they deny that they were camping and say the usual “you suck, your camping, your a noob” or similar to that but with something foul language added also…camping is super boring don’t know why people think its fun n placing in top 3 in a match most of the time doesn’t make me a noob

Okay so let’s start out with this; Once again, Battlefield is selling pretty damn well, definitely past the 10-11 million mark at this point, So if numbers mean everything, it means Battlefield 3 is a pretty damn good game, cuz those are pretty damn good figures for 2 1/2 months of sales. Also, whats 10 million to COD? A huge chunk of their sales, that’s what it is.

We shouldn’t hate on other games because they sell ‘more than Battlefield 3′, but you hate on games that sell less than ‘Call of Duty and GTA’? You also hate on these games solely based on the fact that they sell some amount less than Call of Duty. That alone somehow means they suck ??? So what, almost every game must suck!!! lol guess again dude. It’ll sell 15 million in a couple of months, I’m sure, but not one week. It’s probably going to be more of the same BS all across the board, I’m sure it will get some sales from zombie fanatics and the likes, but IF IT IS the same crap, I think they’ll see a drop in sales for sure in terms of the multiplayer fan base.

simple fact is COD is the current trend, we all had this in school, pokemon, yugio, digimon, beyblade. their terrible now the originals were just awesome. give it time, cod will pass in time. just cause a game solid millions doesnt make it the best or good.

its kinda sad that this is DICE’s first major game, other ones sucked, and already they finished fourth behind titles that have been around forever and have always done well, look at how many hardcore CoD players dropped off when MW3 came out, that didnt happen with battlefield…sure CoD sold alot but if you count the number of returns the game has then that sales number plummets significantly, Battlefield players enjoyed their game, hbu? i didnt think so cuz so many ppl hated mw3 when it came out and the comments on this site proved it!

I sold my copy of Battlefail 3, used the money from that to get Modern Lagfare 3. I’ve spent over 12h on it, and about 4h tops on Battlefail 3 before I got rid of that mess.

I have since shelved Modern Lagfare 3 and turned my attention to Skyrim, and will continue Skyrim until the issues with MW3 are fixed, I also am not an Elite member. Sad, ignorant world? Well, I can read and write so I’m not ignorant. As far as sad goes, I am in college making the Deans list every semester since I started, which means I get A’s and B’s, I fill my time with college, work, friends, and bars. Doesn’t seem very sad to me.
