Activision knows it has a lot of faithful Call of Duty fans out there. Â The company also believes that rewarding that fanbase with more content and tools to enhance the online experience by offering premium services to them is the next logical step for the company. Â While some are miffed about the upcoming mix of free and premium services in Call of Duty: Elite, Â the head of Beachhead Studios, developer in charge of the service claimed that:
“We have the best online community in the world and we owe it to them to offer an experience that will not only anticipate their needs but will keep getting better and better every single day,” Â “And that’s what we’ve done with Call of Duty Elite. At last count, all four of the CoD games between 2007-2010 are currently in the top ten on Xbox Live, and they need us to figure out a way to bring those discrete communities together.”
The service which was recently revealed was announced to work with both the Call of Duty: Black Ops and the upcoming Modern Warfare 3. Â It’s been announced that the service will feature a wide array of premium and free content for the community to enjoy, but no concrete details have been divulged about what features are going to cost money, nor how much it will cost. Â More details should be inbound, as the Call of Duty: Elite beta is set to begin in July.
