PlayStation Plus gets three new free games

by William Schwartz on July 2, 2012

Sony is obviously making good on their promises from E3 2012, where they said the PlayStation Plus service would be seeing more free games than ever before.  Last month, PlayStation Plus subscribers were treated to a whopping 12 free titles through the premium service.  This included big name titles like LittleBigPlanet 2, inFamous 2, Warhammer and Ratchet and Clank.  This month, Plus subscribers will get three new titles in the Instant Game Collection feature.

Arriving with the PlayStation Store update on July 3rd, Gotham City Imposters, Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, and Renegade Ops.  These three new titles will be replacing Zombie Apocalypse, Hard Corps, and Virtual Fighter 5 in the free games roster.

If you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber and didn’t get a chance to download the three titles that are on their way out, make sure you do so before the update on the 3rd.

What the hell! I already own those games! Why am I still paying for PS+?

My only problem is that I didn’t sub to PS+ earlier. I’ve sat by and watched free game after free game come and go but this month I couldn’t help it. $300 worth of AAA titles whichI already owned on disk or wanted. I get for free and that’s not even all I get for my $50.

I just sold Just Cause 2 and Infamous 2 (disk) and got $25 total from those two. I’ll probably sell LBP since I got 2 now and now I just get to look forward to new free games each month & amazing discounts (like the Red Dead one that passed already).

What’s the best about it is that a lot of these games I look at and think are interesting but don’t want to buy one unless I know for sure I like it. Virtua Fighter didn’t look very good to me but I got it for free and love it. Online matches, smooth gameplay & good graphics I like the game. I never would have bought it because my gaming budget isn’t huge & I just save for the really good ones.

Anyways – thank you Playstation. PS+ is delivering as promised.

If you don’t have time to download all the games before they expire you can simply “purchase them” for free and then download later!
