Many Xbox One players have been able to enjoy the MOBA action of SMITE thanks to the closed alpha and beta programs put on by the developer Hi-Rez Studios. However, the floodgates are about to be opened as the game will be entering open beta on July 8th, letting anyone jump in and try out the free-to-play game before its final release date later this year.
“All Xbox One users will be able to download and play SMITE for free directly through the Xbox Games Store or by visiting www.SmiteGame.com/Xbox during this newest phase of development,” read the press release. Current closed beta players need not worry either, as they will transition seamlessly, without a data wipe.
If you’re already playing SMITE in its current form on PC, and are thinking about shifting to the new game, don’t worry. Players who wish to transition from the PC to the Xbox One can do so via a one-time account merger via the game’s site. The press release continues:
“As the first MOBA available on Microsoft’s powerhouse console, SMITE for Xbox One delivers the same thrilling blend of fast-paced gameplay and strategic action that has made the title one of the leading eSports franchises in the world.”
“Its ever-growing pantheon of characters features over 60 playable Gods, each a unique force to be reckoned with in the arena with an arsenal of mighty powers and combat specializations. SMITE’s third-person camera pulls players directly into the heat of battle across a wide variety of solo, competitive and cooperative game modes.”
