Tekken x Street Fighter was announced several years ago, but its status has been questioned many times as we’ve heard nothing about the game for ages. It appears the game is still happening despite no release date in sight.
Tekken 7’s senior game designer, Michael Murray, talked a bit about Tekken x Street Fighter during an interview with OPM UK (via PSU). He said: “It’s still in development, but as far as a release window we haven’t really decided on that“.
His words mirror that of Bandai Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada who has said in the past that the game is still in development too. Many feared the game was cancelled since Bandai Namco has worked on lots of other titles instead such as Tekken 7, Pokken Tournament and more.
A small preview for Tekken x Street Fighter is being teased for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. This is because Street Fighter’s Akuma will be included as a playable character. His addition to the game might be a test to see how Street Fighter characters play like in a Tekken based environment.
The game was originally announced back in 2010 but no proper screenshots have been revealed since then. The only thing we have seen is a logo and that Jin and Ryu will be in it.
