Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be heading to iOS this summer. The fall 2012 release saw critical acclaim when launched on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, and the iOS versions will basically be a port of this version of the game, according to the announcement at their PAX East Panel.
Anyone that’s played XCOM: Enemy Unknown can see how touchscreen controls would probably work pretty well for the strategy title. According to Kotaku, the iOS versions of the game will feature a few new tweaks for swiping functionality, but the user interface will be largely the same as what was found on the console and PC versions of the game. And obviously, some of the finer details that are afforded to bigger screens will go missing in the iOS versions.
There’s no word on how much XCOM: Enemy Unknown on iOS will cost, but we’ll probably learn more as we head closer to the game’s release date.
