Guerrilla Games is working on a PS Vita version of their popular shooter franchise with Killzone: Mercenary. In a recent update from the company, they proclaim the upcoming shooter on the handheld to be the “ultimate handheld first-person shooter experience when it launches for PlayStation Vita in 2013.”
Guerrilla Games has released little to no details about the game as of yet, but we do know that Guerrilla Cambridge is hard at work at adopting the beautiful Killzone 3 engine to the PS Vita platform.
Aside from Killzone: Mercenary, Guerrilla has something else cooking in the studios that has yet to be announced. In their update to fans, they say that 2013 could “quite possibly be the biggest since we released the original Killzone way back in 2004.” Could Killzone: Mercenary warrant this much excitement from the studio and its fans, or is Guerrilla hinting at something even bigger?
Guerrilla doesn’t give any other hints, but speculation has begun and pegs the developer as crafting a fourth installment of the Killzone franchise for the PlayStation 4.
Could Sony be gearing up for a Killzone 4 announcement for the PlayStation 4 at E3 2013? The industry trade show is just over six months away, where many expect Sony to announce their next-generation machine.
