‘Disgraceful’: JD Vance Fires Back After Jen Psaki Said This About His Wife Usha On A Podcast

Vance’s response was short but precise.

Vice President JD Vance has hit back at former White House press secretary Jen Psaki for comments she made about his wife, second lady Usha Vance, during a recent podcast appearance. The remarks have caused a big reaction on social media and gotten strong responses from Trump administration officials.

“I think it’s disgraceful, but of course the second lady can speak for herself,” Vance said to reporters in Israel, according to Fox News. The vice president also said he was grateful to have Usha by his side during his visit to Israel, and that he feels lucky to have such a great partner.

Psaki made the comments during an appearance on the I’ve Had It podcast, where she talked about the vice president and suggested things about his wife’s situation. “I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife. Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. We’ll come over here. We’ll save you,” Psaki said during the podcast. She also called Vance “the little Manchurian candidate” and said he is “scarier” than President Donald Trump in some ways.

The Backlash Was Pretty Intense

People reacted quickly and were not happy with what Psaki said. Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director, said the former press secretary was putting her own problems onto other people. He said she does not have much talent and tries to make up for it by saying things that are not true. Fox News contributor Joe Concha also gave his opinion, saying straight out that Psaki is not a good person.

The clip of Psaki’s podcast appearance spread fast on social media, with many people saying they did not like her comments. Critics said her remarks were wrong and disrespectful toward the second lady, who has done a lot in her own career. The vice president has had to deal with controversial moments involving text messages from political opponents in recent weeks.

Usha Vance met her husband while both were students at Yale Law School. Her White House biography says she is a skilled lawyer who has worked on tough civil cases and appeals in many different areas. She has also worked as a clerk for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and for Brett Kavanaugh when he was on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

In his book Hillbilly Elegy, which came out in June 2016, JD Vance called Usha his “Yale spirit guide.” He wrote that she made him feel at home in a place that often felt strange to him. The couple has three children: sons Ewan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel. The vice president made his comments about Psaki while on his recent trip to Israel where he gave a major speech about Middle East policy.
