‘These Are Dark Days’: Joe Biden Warns Democracy Is At Stake While Celebrating An Unexpected Group Of Trump Resisters

Humor can be a powerful weapon

Former President Joe Biden gave a serious speech in Boston on Sunday where he talked about his worries for America. According to Fox News, he was there to receive a special award from the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. Biden used this moment to share his concerns about what is happening in the country right now.

Biden surprised many people by praising late-night TV hosts who make jokes about President Donald Trump. He said these comedians are brave because they keep speaking out even though they might lose their jobs.

Biden told the crowd that things are very bad right now. “Friends, I can’t sugarcoat any of this. These are dark days,” he said. But he also said he believes America will get through this tough time and come out better than before, as long as people don’t give up hope.

Biden Says Late-Night Hosts Are Standing Up For Free Speech

Biden made it clear that he thinks the late-night comedians deserve praise. He said they keep talking about important issues even though they know they could get in trouble. “The late-night hosts continue to shine a light on free speech knowing their careers are on the line,” Biden explained.

He seems to be talking about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel recently. The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! got suspended in September after he said something about the person who allegedly shot at Charlie Kirk. Disney took him off the air for almost a week before letting him come back.

The head of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, was very angry about what Kimmel said. He called it really bad and said the FCC might be able to do something about it. This whole situation shows how tense things have gotten between TV personalities and government leaders.

Biden also talked about bigger problems facing the country. He said that after more than 50 years working in politics, this is one of the worst times he has seen. “Our very democracy is at stake, in my view,” he told the audience. But he did not want people to feel hopeless. Instead, he told them, “It’s no time to give up. It’s time to get up. Get up now!”

This speech was one of the strongest Biden has given since he dropped out of the presidential race last July. He left the race because other Democrats wanted him to after he had a rough debate against Trump.

Biden also found out in May that he has a serious type of prostate cancer, which has made things harder for him. Even though he is no longer running for office, Biden keeps speaking out about what he thinks is wrong. He has not always gotten along with everyone in his own party during his many years in Washington.
