President Donald Trump talked to reporters on Monday about Elon Musk. He said the two of them are talking again and things are better now. Trump was on Air Force One flying to Japan when he answered questions about the billionaire.
Trump said he and Musk have been chatting here and there since they both went to Charlie Kirk’s funeral in Arizona last month. He told Politico that things are good between them now. Trump made it clear he still likes Musk even though they had problems before.
Trump told reporters he has always liked the Tesla boss. “He had a bad spell. He had a bad moment. But I like Elon, and I suspect I’ll always like him,” the President said. This shows Trump is willing to forgive what happened between them over the summer.
The Summer Feud Between These Two Was Pretty Intense
Trump and Musk got into a big fight this past summer. Both men said mean things about each other in public. Musk said he might help other people run against Republican politicians. He even talked about starting his own political party and calling it the “America Party.”
Trump did not like this at all. He told Musk there would be big problems if he actually did these things. Trump also said he might use the Department of Government Efficiency to go after Musk. This was strange because Musk used to work with that department. The whole situation got so bad that some people stopped buying Tesla cars. The drama between the two men sparked a Tesla boycott among customers who were upset.
Why does their friendship matter so much? Well, Musk owns X and has millions of people who follow him online. He also has a lot of money he could give to politicians during elections. With votes coming up in 2026 and 2028, having Musk on your side could help a lot.
Trump and Musk being friends again is a big change from just a few months ago. Seeing them sit together at the funeral and hearing they are talking now means they both want to move past their fight. Trump is usually pretty tough on people, and he does not back down easily.
He has called out other world leaders publicly before, so him being nice to Musk again shows this friendship really matters to him. Nobody knows if they will stay friends or start fighting again, but for now things look okay between them.
