Social media stars recognize each other while boarding plane in Nigeria. Seconds later, the cabin descends into absolute chaos

They put on quite a show!

Two popular social media personalities got into a fight on a plane in Nigeria, and the whole thing was caught on camera. The brawl happened on a United Nigeria Airlines flight while people were getting on the plane at Asaba International Airport.

According to The Sun, the two men involved were Matins Otse, who goes by the name Very Dark Man or VDM online, and Freedom Atsepoyi, a comedian known as Mr Jollof. Both of them have big followings on social media. Things got heated between them as they were boarding, and they started throwing punches right there in the plane’s aisle.

In the video that went around online, you can see the two men fighting while other passengers tried to stay out of the way. The flight crew jumped in to try and stop them, but it took some effort to break up the scuffle.

The airline had to remove both passengers before takeoff

The airline’s spokesman, Chibuike Uloka, talked about what happened and said the crew did what they were supposed to do. He explained that they followed all the proper safety rules when dealing with the situation. The airline decided to kick both men off the plane to make sure everyone else could travel safely.

Uloka gave more details about how they handled things. “In full compliance with global aviation safety protocols, our crew responded immediately and professionally to de-escalate the situation,” he said. “Both passengers were de-boarded without delay to ensure the safety, comfort, and security of all other passengers and crew members.”

Once the two influencers were off the plane and in police custody, the flight was able to leave. It took off from Asaba at 9:47 in the morning and got to Lagos about 45 minutes later. Nobody seems to know exactly what started the fight between VDM and Mr Jollof in the first place.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority said they’re going to look into what happened. Nigeria has been making news lately for different reasons. Mr Jollof posted something on Instagram the next day to say sorry to everyone. He has about a million people following him on the platform.

In his post, Mr Jollof said he was defending himself during the fight. “I am very sorry if I delayed [my fellow passengers’] appointments. Pardon me,” he wrote. “This isn’t my kind of person. It will never happen again.” He also told his wife and kids he was sorry and promised he wouldn’t do anything like this again.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened on a Nigerian flight this year. Back in August, a woman on a different airline punched one of the flight attendants because she didn’t want to turn off her phone. People with large public profiles have been causing problems in various ways recently. The woman from that August incident got banned from flying with that airline ever again.
