Vice President JD Vance announced that he would support bipartisan efforts to call Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to testify before US lawmakers concerning his deep friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Vance didn’t mince words in an interview with Daily Mail, noting he’s “certainly open to it,” especially since he saw the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, had also recently weighed in on the matter.
While the VP is supportive of the idea, he quickly clarified that the final decision rests with congressional Republicans. They are better positioned to judge what Andrew could offer to the ongoing bipartisan investigation into Epstein and the US government’s handling of the case. “I’ll let them determine whether they should talk to Prince Andrew. I’d certainly be open to it. But it’s their call, not mine,” he added.
This isn’t just an American political concern, either. Prime Minister Starmer got straight to the point last Saturday, insisting that anyone who has information needs to share it to help the victims. “Anybody who has got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they are asked to do that,” the prime minister told reporters. “You can’t be victim-centered if you’re not prepared to do that.” That’s a powerful statement, and I think it perfectly captures the sentiment around this whole messy situation.
Vance used the latest revelations released by the Justice Department to launch a scathing attack
Vance insisted the documents showed “there’s a pretty incestuous nature to America’s elites.” He pointed out that the files reflect “very poorly” on figures like Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and a lot of others. Interestingly, Vance claimed the files actually exonerated President Trump. While President Trump was friends with Epstein from the 1990s up until the mid-2000s, the president has always maintained he broke off contact over Epstein’s “creepy” behavior toward young women at his Mar-a-Lago club.
Vance argued that President Trump “is very much outside of the social circle” of the deep Epstein connections. “He knows a lot of these people. He certainly has similar wealth and power. But he never really was friendly with Epstein in a way that a lot of these other people were,” Vance insisted.
The documents themselves are deeply disturbing. They include photos that allegedly show Andrew crouched over a woman and touching her waist. Even worse, the files show Andrew was in frequent contact with the financier for more than two years after Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting prostitution from a minor.
The sad truth is Congress can’t actually subpoena Andrew since he’s a foreign national. He already ignored an invitation to sit for a deposition before the US House Oversight Committee back in November after a previous file dump. That letter cited financial records mentioning “massages for Andrew” and a 2011 email where the ex-prince told the pedophile, “We are in this together.” Andrew has not commented on the latest files, but he has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
Epstein was found hanged in 2019 in a Manhattan jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, a death that was ruled a suicide.
