You can’t argue with the fact that televisions are getting bigger and cheaper at an absolutely wild rate. However, one woman who snagged a massive television at Walmart found herself completely stuck when she realized her Ford Bronco wasn’t quite big enough to get her new 85-inch screen home, as reported by BroBible.
In a video that racked up over 139,000 views, TikTok user Jesica Hatch showed the aftermath of her big purchase. Her Ford Bronco was parked outside the store, and right in front of it sat a massive 85-inch Roku TV box. Hatch summed up her predicament perfectly, explaining, “Bought this TV. It doesn’t fit in the Bronco. And now, I’m stranded at Walmart.”
That trend of inexpensive large TVs is awesome for consumers, but it creates a whole new set of logistical headaches. Hatch’s transportation failure is actually a pretty common problem. You’d think that an SUV like the Bronco would be perfect for hauling things, but even its cargo space couldn’t handle the sheer bulk of an 85-inch box.
Bigger is seemingly not always better
Hatch considered returning the device right away, but she noted she couldn’t because she hadn’t owned it for 24 hours yet. Luckily, she found a solution: her sister saved the day. Hatch later shared in the comments that her “sis ubered to get a truck,” solving the immediate transport crisis.
The transportation issue doesn’t just stop at the parking lot, either, after you deal with the checkouts inside Walmart, of course. Even if you manage to haul the TV home, the next hurdle is getting it inside your house. One Reddit user shared a hilarious story about ordering a 98-inch television only to discover, much to his horror, that the boxed TV wouldn’t actually fit through his front door. He ended up having the delivery drivers take the massive device right back.
This leads us to the other major problem with massive televisions: placement. While bigger seems better, it’s only true if you have the space for it. Many people buy the biggest screen they can afford and then set it up just a few feet from their couch in a small apartment. That’s going to make for a really uncomfortable and unpleasant viewing experience. This is an added unpleasant experience, especially after the privacy invasions you have to deal with, if you buy modern smart TVs.
If you’re determined to get that huge screen and you find yourself in the same sticky situation as Hatch, the internet provided plenty of creative solutions. The easiest fix, of course, is to bypass the problem entirely. One user suggested, “Order online have it delivered,” which seems like common sense for something this huge.
For those who are already stranded, some users offered more daring advice. One comment suggested, “Common sense would say go back into Walmart and buy some straps and put the f—ing tv on top of the roof.” A safer, but more expensive, option came from another user who shared that when his coworker was in a bind, he “ordered an uber black & put his tv in the back then followed it home.”
