Rihanna’s home in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood was shot at, and she was inside the house at the time. Police received a call at 1:21 PM and arrested a 30-year-old woman about 30 minutes later. No injuries were reported, according to police Sergeant Jonathan de Vera.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside her vehicle, targeting the celebrity’s home from across the street near the property’s gate. Police radio dispatch indicated that at least 10 shots were fired. The vehicle, a white Tesla, then drove south on Coldwater Canyon Drive.
Officers described the suspect as having braided hair and wearing a cream-colored blouse. A police helicopter located the Tesla and followed it to a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks, where the suspect was taken into custody around half an hour after the first 911 call.
The assault rifle and spent casings found in the suspect’s car point to a planned attack, not a random shooting
LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias confirmed that when police searched the suspect’s vehicle, they found an assault rifle and seven spent casings. At least one round penetrated a wall of the mansion, according to a law enforcement source. Bullet holes were also found in a gate at Rihanna’s home and in an RV parked in the driveway.
Rihanna lives in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood with her partner, rapper ASAP Rocky. The couple has three children: sons RZA, born in May 2022, and Riot, born in August 2023, and a daughter, Rocki, born about five months ago.
Rihanna is no stranger to making headlines for unexpected reasons, she once left a comment that broke the internet after discovering a meme account had used her photo. This is not the first security incident at one of Rihanna’s homes.
In 2018, a man named Eduardo Leon from Fullerton broke into her Hollywood Hills home and stayed there for about 12 hours. He had climbed a fence to get inside the house. Rihanna was not home at the time, and her assistant found him the following day.
Leon later pleaded no contest to stalking the singer. In that case, Rihanna was not present, and no weapons were involved. Sunday’s shooting, involving an assault rifle and gunfire directed at an occupied home, is a significantly more serious incident.
The discovery of the assault rifle and spent casings in the suspect’s car strongly suggests the attack was not impulsive or random. In other celebrity news, a content creator recently received a custom gift from Wendy’s that sent the internet into a frenzy. Investigators have not yet publicly stated a motive in Rihanna’s case, and the suspect remains in custody following her arrest at the Sherman Oaks shopping center.
