Travelling by air is considered the most efficient way to reduce travel time. Still, sometimes, some travel companions can destroy the whole experience by creating a mess that even the crew can’t handle. We have heard about the mid-air yoga routine disrupting a passenger’s peace, but something more odd has taken place in a Southwest flight to Tampa, which was about to take off. A couple started arguing with the staff to change their seats because they were in different places on the same flight. As a result, the whole flight was delayed by 1 hour.
According to BroBible, a TikToker named Archer Hayes posted a video of a couple arguing with the cabin crew to change their seats so they could sit together. But the cabin crew made it clear that, according to the rules, they could not do this until the flight takes off and is in midair after the complete boarding process. The flight attendant kept on asking the male to calm down and sit, and this was not an emergency situation, but this stalemate position caused the plane to be delayed by more than one hour.
Flight attendant since the start of this apparent row tried to calm the passenger down, saying, “That’s the only point when flight attendants can do anything is in the air. On the ground, we can’t do anything”. But things got heated when the male passenger refused to back down and leave the aisle, and at that moment, the attendant said, “Do you not hear what I’m saying, sir? This is not an emergency; you should not be in the aisle.” This heated exchange ruined everyone’s experience and delayed the flight for quite a lot of time.
The couple delayed the flight, but TikTok viewers are blaming the captain
Since the video has gone viral on TikTok, people are pouring their comments on the situation, with some people blaming the captain for the delay of the flight. Some of the viewers suggested that the flight crew should have booted the couple to avoid the delay of the flight. As one viewer stated, “I blame the captain and the FA. They let that go on for far too long,” Another added, “There needs to be a no-nonsense policy. Meaning they only ask you once to behave or go to your seat. And if you don’t after being asked, then you’re indicating you don’t want to fly in the aircraft at the time.”
On the other hand, Archer Hayes, who published the video, blamed the couple for being inconsiderate towards other passengers as he captioned the video, writing, “Traveling is already chaotic, and this couple was being inconsiderate to everyone on the plane, delaying us by an hour. Several passengers asked them to get off because people had connecting flights.”
This is another problem we have heard about Southwest Airlines after a plus-sized customer got into seating trouble. Flight attendants might have been quite soft towards the alleged inconsiderate travellers, but slightly more strictness may have avoided the fiasco. Regardless of the blame game, this delay might have derailed several other flights and also the passengers who were in a hurry or had connecting flights to reach their destination.
