Hideo Kojima sure is taking the long way in revealing whatever The Phantom Pain is. Â Back at Spike’s Video Game Awards Show, a new studio by the name of Moby Dick revealed what was pretty well connected to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, in a trailer for a game called “The Phantom Pain.”
Kojima has dropped hints, fans have spotted classic Metal Gear characters in the trailer and screenshots, and the whole thing’s got the stench of a marketing stunt for the next Metal Gear game. Â Though apparently the gag is still going strong. Â A representative for Moby Dick Studios appeared on last night’s GTTV, and explained that the game will be getting a full reveal at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco later this month. Â Coincidentally, Hideo Kojima will be giving a presentation at GDC. Â This presentation is one that Kojima will be talking about the Fox Engine, and one where new footage of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be shown.
Whether or not these are two separate games, or just a marketing stunt for one of them, will likely be revealed later this month. Â Regardless, the two games are certainly connected. Â Tonight’s episode of GTTV saw the reveal of new concept art and screenshots for the game, which some spotted to have had the Fox Engine logo on them.
Either way, we’ll be getting more details on Kojima’s next Metal Gear game at GDC ’13. Â As for the Phantom Pain, we’ll just have to wait and see.
