Nintendo will have a presence at E3 2013, but they will not be holding a press conference. The company recently announced that they are forgoing the annual event that has kicked off the E3 festivities on Tuesday just ahead of the E3 doors opening.

Nintendo will instead focus on closed events that are focused on software. In a transcript of the recent Nintendo Investor Briefing, the company explained the rationale behind skipping their annual conference.

“We have decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past. Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be once closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media.”

Nintendo will also be utilizing it’s Nintendo Direct platform to relay information to their global audience. They believe they can more effectively deliver their intended message with this method.
