Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s Vast Improvements Detailed

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was officially unveiled a little over two months ago during Microsoft’s E3 conference, though it was just about the worst kept secret in the industry at that point. Bringing all four of the mainline Halo games to the Xbox One, the collection is an incredible deal for any fan of the Halo series or even anyone just looking to get into the series for the first time. The majority of the promotion for the collection has revolved around the Halo 2: Anniversary aspect, but thanks to Dualshockers, we now know a good bit more about the other three games in the collection.

Not only are Halo 3 and Halo 4 running at a super smooth 60fps in 1080p, but an incredible amount of work has been done on the lighting model and shaders to bring the game into the new generation of gaming. The water and foliage in particular will look vastly improved due to these upgrades, especially the higher pixel count.

The original Halo is an interesting case, because it already got one remaster in the form of Halo Anniversary, but this new one is basically a remaster of that existing remaster, by getting all of the same improvements as Halo 3 and Halo 4 as well.

343 Industries also revealed that they considered adding in Kinect support to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but ran out of time and ended up just using that the additional resources towards performance instead. There are no plans for SmartGlass integration of any sort either.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to arrive on November 11 in the US exclusively for the Xbox One.
