New details have finally arrivedΒ for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s upcoming expansion Heavensward. Not only will Heavensward add to the ever growing story butΒ it will also be adding so much more content.Β One of the biggest announcements was the reveal ofΒ the newΒ tanking class, Dark Knight.Β TheΒ Dark Knight will use the power of darkness along with a greatsword to destroy his/herΒ foes. They also said that this class will be the first job that will not need a base class which means that you will no longer have to get a job to level 30 and a sub job to 15 in order to have access to this class.Β Dark Knight job will be availableΒ asΒ soon as youΒ purchase Heavensward.
TheΒ Vanu Vanu and the GnathΒ areΒ also the two new beast tribes that will be available in Heavensward. AlsoΒ Yoshida has announced that they will be adding a new cash shop that will allow players to use real money in order to purchase in game itemsΒ such as new minions and mounts. The money that they receive from these in-game purchases will be used to help them expandΒ with more vanity items and minions that will be available without real-world cash.Β It will alsoΒ allow them to expand the number of housing servers.
Flying mounts are also something you can expect with the launch of Heavensward. So far six are in development but there were some strong hints that there might be more lined up after the launch.Β Mount speed will alsoΒ be boosted due to the fact thatΒ flying mounts unfortunately won’t be allowed to fly in the older areas. That’s not the only way you can take to the sky as Cid will be building you a personal airship that will allow you to land in any of the new areas,Β this newly crafted airship will also allow you to land on new flying islands that are begging to be explored.
This is just a taste of what is to come from Final Fantasy XIV’s first expansion.Β It’s exciting to see what Square-Enix has in store for the world of Eorzea. Heavensward will be available early spring 2015.
