Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins Set To Be Removed From XBLA/PSN Very Soon

While many are pushing for a completely digital gaming future, there are still many opponents to this notion, with one of the biggest complaints being the eventual de-listing of many games over time. We saw this happen last January with pretty much the entire library of Marvel games from all online services and now another is taking the hit this month.

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins launched a little over two years ago on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, providing a much upgraded and HD version of Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. Sadly, it has now been revealed by Capcom-Unity that the game will be completely removed from both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network over the next couple weeks. Specifically, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins will be removed from the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 on December 23, while it will be removed a little over a week later on December 31 from Xbox Live.

Unlike the majority of the games that were removed earlier this year that were also released physically, Marvel vs. Capcom Origins is digital only and will be impossible to get unless it was purchased prior. This is very worrisome for gamers as it means that there are literally games that cannot be bought anymore and can’t be purchased in a store either. As a result, if you have any interest in this game at all, make sure you get it downloaded prior to its removal across the next week or two.
