Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set for a September release, though a lot of the talk about the game over the last few months months has been revolving around the ongoing clash between Hideo Kojima and Konami. This is far from the first controversy surrounding Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain or even its prologue game Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. One of the ongoing discussions has been the replacement of the voice of Snake and the original voice actor has now struck back on Twitter in a sarcastic tweet.

David-Hayter

David Hayter has been known as the voice of Snake ever since the release of Metal Gear Solid for PlayStation 1. Ranging from Solid Snake to Naked Snake, who later become Big Boss, Hayter has become synonymous with the role. However, Kojima chose to replace him in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which very recently spawned the following tweet and the image on the right:

  • Wow. Turns out I CAN do Facial Capture! #Huh

This all stems back to some comments by Kojima that said that wanted Snake to be defined by facial motions and tone, rather than just a voice. This was obviously discussing the reasoning for changing from Hayter to the new voice of Snake, Kiefer Sutherland.

Many are still feeling as if Hayter will make a surprise appearance in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and comments like these are simply a smokescreen. We won’t find out though until Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases on September 1.
