Some concept art has now been released for the cancelled Jak and Daxter 4 video game.
As reported by DualShockers, Scribble Pad Studios has now shared some concept art they were working on for Jak and Daxter 4.
Before Naughty Dog went on to make games like the Uncharted series and The Last of Us, the studio was planning to reboot the Jak franchise for the PS3. Even though it was a reboot, it had a placeholder name of “Jak 4”.
As you can see from the concept art, it would have been a darker more realistic game compared to the cartoonish look of the original trilogy. Jak looked more like a real-life human being than an elf boy.
It would have been interesting to see what Daxter would have looked like in this cancelled game. If this game were to have a more serious tone, Daxter might not have had a big part as he has always been the comic relief in the series.
Naughty Dog rarely reboots or develops more than four games in one franchise. There were three main Crash Bandicoot games plus the kart racing one. Jak and Daxter also had three main games and a racing game. Now, Naughty Dog has developed 4 Uncharted games with A Thief’s End being the last in the series.
One has to wonder if Sony will eventually want to revive Jak and Daxter 4 and let a another studio develop it. The PS4 is in need of some good platform style of games.
