The Yakuza series has been getting a lot of attention lately as the fifth game was finally released in North America for PlayStation 3, the original game is being remade and the 6th installment is on the way. We also can’t forget about the prequel Yakuza 0 that is out in Japan now and coming to North America next year. That’s a whole lot of Yakuza and I’m not complaining as this is a great series that more people need to try out.
Now, Sega has released two brand new videos that give us more footage of the remake of the original Yakuza called Yakuza: Kiwami and Yakuza 6. The first video is a story trailer for Yakuza: Kiwami and though the footage is in Japanese we do know that the game will include new scenarios, gameplay systems and mini-games compared to the original release on PlayStation 2.
The second video is a gameplay demo for Yakuza 6, which shows off protagonist Kazuma Kiryu wandering the area of Kamurocho. Of course, the poor guy can never seem to walk down a street without at least one thug picking a fight with him, so we also get to see a lot of the game’s flashy and brutal combat. There’s even a bit of roof jumping thrown in towards the end for good measure.
Yakuza 5 is available now digitally on PlayStation 3, Yakuza 6 will launch late next year for PlayStation 4 in Japan, and both Yakuza: Kiwami and Yakuza 0 will launch at some point next year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
