4J Studios, the developer behind all of the console versions of Minecraft, has revealed the changelog for the next big update coming to all versions. It seems like every system is being hit with a Minecraft Update coming for PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U. Some of these systems, especially the Wii U, are on older versions of the game, so they won’t be quite up to date with the rest, but it looks like every platform will be hit in some way.
Unlike the last Minecraft update, which added a bunch of new features, this one looks like it’ll be focused on bug fixes. Things like “Water Spreading Creates New Source Blocks. Animals get stuck in corners of fence-type blocks. The map does not work as it should (unless “View Hand” is turned on). Fishing Rod Bobber Sticks to Walls! and TNT can destroy blocks placed well beyond the world border.” populate the patch notes, along with some fixes, such as:
“Fix for crash when Ender Chest is mined for a few seconds. Fix for an intermittent crash when placing beds on snow. Fix for a crash when a Superflat World session with a combination of multiple Planks or Wood, Lava and Air Layers is saved. Fix for a crash after destroying blocks and exploring a Superflat World with multiple Sand, Air and TNT Layers. And improved random seed generator to select worlds with a better spread of biomes.”
The Wii U Minecraft update looks to be the least intensive, as that game is currently on a much older version of the game. 4J did say that they hope to have Minecraft: Wii U edition up to version 1.8.8 soon, as they are working on it now.
The updates are ready to go, but have to go through the usual certification process. 4J has said that they are in the hands of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo though, so as long as there aren’t any issues with the patch, it should come out in the next few days.
