Unlike boxing, there are different elements to MMA because there is more to the sport than just punching. EA Sports UFC 2 can be complicated if you aren’t familiar with MMA. Here are some tips for people who may not be so knowledgeable about UFC or MMA.
First things first, EA Sports UFC 2 is categorized into different weight classes. You can only use fighters within the same weight class so you cannot have a Heavyweight face off against Flyweight.
In UFC, rounds last for five minutes long and you can choose to have 3 or 5 rounds in total. You can win by either knockout or submission. If nothing happens within the time limit, you can win by unanimous decision based on points.
Anyway, the best person to use to play in your first fight is Jon Jones. You can find him in the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight classes. Jones is very fast and powerful and is perfect for beginners to use. Another fighter that beginners might take a liking to is Conor McGregor.
The goal is for you to pretty much wear your opponent down or concentrate your attacks on a specific body part. I usually like to target my opponent’s head until it turns red. When it’s bold red, you know they are weak and you can go for the knockout.
However, don’t spam attacks all of the time because you get tired as this decreases your stamina. Your stamina bar can be seen at the top of the screen. Wait until it recharges before you start striking again. If you keep spamming attacks, your punches and kicks will be weak and they won’t cause much damage to your opponent.
For defensive tactics, holding RB (R1) blocks attacks that are to the head. Holding the right trigger (R2) blocks all body shots. Watch your opponent’s movements to try and predict where they’ll be striking next. If you are facing someone that spams head attacks often, you’ll know to press RB (R1) all of the time.
