Xbox One Games Launching Post-Scorpio Will Natively Render At 4K

4K is all the talk now with 4K televisions becoming more affordable and gaming platforms starting to support the technology. While the recent release of the Xbox One S allowed 4K movies to be played, the Xbox One Scorpio is going to take that to an entirely new level, especially based on some new information.

The code named Scorpio is not set to be released in sometime late in 2017, but that hasn’t kept people from speculating and discussing the console since its somewhat reveal at E3 this year. This has become an even bigger topic with the recent reveal of the PS4 Pro as well.

With this not being an entirely new generation, but rather an upgrade for the Xbox One, to where all games will play on both, we’ve been wondering just how important 4K would be to Microsoft, which appears to be quite a bit.

With this on the horizon, USA Today spoke with Microsoft Studio’s Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis, who explained their plans for first-party games around the Scorpio release window.

“Any games we’re making that we’re launching in the Scorpio time frame, we’re making sure they can natively render at 4K.”

This is great news to hear that Microsoft is really pushing their in-house products for Xbox One, while still having these games fully playable on regular Xbox One consoles as well. We’ll have to see if this truly pans out though, because we’ve seen grand promises from plenty of companies before that did not end up being quite as promised.
